San Antonio Spurs

Brandon Lucero here, Journalist and Photographer dedicated to covering the San Antonio Spurs. I served onboard the USS San Antonio while in the United States Navy! I utilized my GI Bill and went to college where I received my Associates and Bachelors degrees in Journalism and Photography!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 127 to 95 as S. Castle (22pts,10rebs,10ast) and V. Wembanyama (23pts,15rebs,6ast,1blk) showed off in victory on Prime! Area 51 as Spurs fans call Castle and Wemby, were on a mission from the start of the game. Seven Spurs scored in double figures as D. Fox (12pts,6ast) and D. Vassell (16pts) helped the starters get a big lead after the first quarter. K. Johnson (16pts) and D. Harper (14pts) were big off the bench and helped push the lead to double digits as the Spurs never looked back! The Spurs are 32-9 since January 1st, and only two games back from OKC for the number one seed in the West!

Bucks: The Bucks are playing without their superstar and are in need of a full rebuild. M. Turner (15pts) and G. Trent Jr (18pts) are the only trade chips besides Giannis so if they decide to run it back, they have to realize they are never going to be contenders unless they build through the draft!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs beat the Memphis Grizzlies 123 to 98 in a dominant win where the Spurs lead from the opening jump! V. Wembanyama (19pts,15rebs,7blks) and S. Castle (15pts,9ast) each had solid performances as well as having a few poster dunks on GG Jackson II and T. Hendricks of the Grizzlies. K. Johnson (15pts) and H. Barnes (11pts) were solid off the bench. D. Vassell (19pts) and J. Champagnie (13pts) were hitting their outside shots and played good fundamental defense! D. Harper (10pts,5rebs,6ast) played well and got his second career start with D. Fox sitting out. The Spurs are 31-9 since January 1st and are playing well heading into the stretch run before the playoffs!

Grizzlies: GG Jackson (20pts) and W. Clayton Jr (10pts,6ast) are solid pieces to build on but Memphis will be looking in the draft in order to find a star as well as other pieces to build on!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs beat the Miami Heat 136 to 111 as V.Wembanyama (26pts,15rebs,5blks) dominated against the Miami Heat! He showcased why he is considered an MVP candidate this year! D. Harper (25pts) off the bench, was on point and kept up where he left off against the Pacers. S. Castle (19pts,7rebs,6ast) and D. Fox (14pts,6ast) lead the attack from the guard spots. H. Barnes (13pts) was also problem for the Heat and helped pace the Spurs potent bench unit!

Heat: The Miami Heat sit at 8th in the eastern conference and have been playing well until tonight where they ran into a white hot Spurs team. B. Abebayo (18pts) and T. Herro (18pts) tried to keep up with the Spurs but that became a task to tall to handle!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Indiana Pacers 134 to 119 in D. Harpers first career start! The 2nd overall pick in last year’s draft scored 24 pts in a solid performance where the Spurs lead wire to wire! WeMVP (20pts,8rebs,6ast,5blks) had a solid game against the Pacers and leads the NBA with at 51 games with at least 5 blocks! To put that in perspective, the second closest is M. Turner at 17! KJ Desperado (24pts) off the bench was imposing his will and kept the energy going all game. D. Fox (14pts,7ast) maintained the flow that helped get the Spurs the lead! Spurs have won 22 of 24 and are playing great basketball heading into the final few weeks of the season!

Pacers: P Siakam (14pts) A. Nembhard (25pts) and J. Walker (21pts) all played hard but without T. Haliburton the Pacers are looking at next year to try and compete!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Phoenix Suns 101 to 100 in a tightly contested game where the Suns lead by 10 points in the fourth quarter, but Wemby got the opportunity to hit the game winner and send the Spurs to the playoffs for the first time since 2019! V. Wembanyama (34pt,12rebs,3stl) had an amazing game, and the game winner against a pesky Suns team that packed the paint and tried to make the Spurs hit outside shots consistently! Wemby was patient and finally cooked by hitting the game winner and showing why he is an MVP candidate! D. Fox (23pts,7rebs) was on point in the fourth quarter as the Spurs made a comeback where he was a main factor as of why the Spurs came back in this game! J. Champagnie (14pts) and D. Vassell (12pts) each had moments in this game and fought to help get the Spurs the dub! Tough game for the Spurs bench but without S. Castle, this was going to be an uphill battle no matter what! Wemby called game, and the Spurs are showing why they are legit, having won 21 of their last 23! Wemby=MVP in my book!

Suns: C. Gallespie (24pts) and D. Booker (22pts) were the reason the Suns had a chance to win this game! They need help to make the playoffs but will be a tough out when everyone gets healthy!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Sacramento Kings 132 to 104 as the team makes history hitting 25 three pointers creating a new franchise record in the process! V. Wembanyama (18pts,8rebs) and J. Champagnie (17pts) lead the way hitting three pointers to help the Spurs go up by 30 points early. Seven Spurs scored in double figures as the team played confident and made the correct pass in order to set up wide open teammates! S. Castle (3pts,12ast) and D. Fox (15pts,6ast) made quick work of the Kings backcourt. Almost 20 assist between the starting backcourt was contagious for a Spurs team playing its best basketball down the stretch!

Kings: M. Raynuad (32pts,9rebs) and D. Plowden (14pts) were the only bright spots for a Kings team that has regressed from a few years ago. Now they have a team of vets that need a new change of scenery and a chance at joining a contender.

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 119 to 115 in a game where both teams lead by double digits! S. Castle (23pts,7rebs,8ast) played solid for the Spurs in victory. He and D. Fox (18pts,6ast) attacked a shorthanded Clippers team that was playing without K. Leonard. The Spurs feel behind 17 to 3 to start the game, but picked up their defensive intensity and focused on playing solid basketball! V. Wembanyama (21pts,13rebs,4blks) and D. Vassell (20pts) helped lead the charge and get the Spurs the lead. The Spurs ended up leading by 24 points in the third quarter but the Clippers young players cut the lead to single digits in the fourth! It took more effort and focus to close the game out by the Spurs starter but they got the job done! C. Bryant (10pts) played well off the bench for the Spurs. The California native was locked in on both ends of the ball! The Spurs got their 50th win of the season, the last time they did that K. Leonard was on the team. It must have been destiny for them to get it in front of Kawhi in a season that might match up the former finals MVP against his former team in this years playoffs!

Clippers: The Los Angeles Clippers fought back after giving up a big lead. D. Garland (25pts,10ast) and J. Miller (22pts) helped get the game back to single digits in the fourth quarter but the Spurs were too much and closed the game out!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Charlotte Hornets 115 to 102 in a solid victory against a team that has beaten the Spurs before! V. Wembanyama (32pts,12rebs,8ast,4blks) was a problem for the Hornets in that Wemby swatted and contested every shot he was near! Much like a fly swatter in a very busy park during a family get together! D. Fox (17pts,6rebs) and S. Castle (15pts,7rebs,10ast) were very productice against the Hornets backcourt! When Wemby hits his shots, the lane opens for all other slashers on the team! K. Johnson (13pts,5rebs) and L. Kornet (10pts,8rebs) had solid games off the bench! No D. Harper meant the Spurs bench was needing a spark and solid contributors in a game where they had been beaten before.

Hornets: K. Knueppel (20pts) and L. Ball (17pts) with M. Bridges (22pts) are a nice touch that can beat most teams in the NBA! The problem is the bench and consistency from the main guys. The Hornets have been playing decent basketball as of late but were no match for a hot Spurs team that has found their flow!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs lost to the Denver Nuggets 136 to131 in a game where both Wemby and Gordon did not play and Denver came back from down 20! S. Castle (30pts,11rebs,10ast) and D. Fox (27pts,9ast) each help carry the Spurs in this game. The Spurs went up by 20 points and were playing solid basketball but the Nuggets had other things planned. H. Barnes (20pts) and D. Harper (13pts) did their best to help the Spurs keep the lead but it was not enough! This team is good without Wemby, but they are not anything close to a championship contender if Wemby is not in the lineup.

Nuggets: N. Jokic (31pts,21rebs,12ast) and J. Murray (39pts,7ast) played out of their minds to get the Nuggets the win. The team was down by as many as 20 points but had no quit in them! Denver will be a solid championship contender if all pieces are healthy and able to play!

  • Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Boston Celtics 125 to 116 as WeMVP hits 8 three pointers and J. Brown gets ejected! V. Wembanyama (39pts,11rebs,2blks) was in MVP form against the Celtics in a very competitive game! The MVP candidate was taking what the defense gave him and hit 8 three pointers that opened up the floor for the rest of his teammates! The back court of D. Fox (25pts,9ast) and S. Castle (18pts,9ast,6rebs) wrecked havoc in the lane as Wemby opened up enough space for the talented guards to attack the paint all night! 18 assist between the two guards showed just how important it is they have the necessary space to operate, in order to split the defense and find open teammates! D. Vassell (14pts) also had a very quiet but efficient night and was steady for the Spurs. This team has won 16 of 17 and is rounding into shape for the postseason!

Celtics: J. Tatum (24pts) and D. White (34pts,7ast) kept the Celtics in the game as J. Brown (8pts) was ejected for the second time in his career. He was very upset about a call and let his emotions get the best of him! It could have been a different game for the Celtics had he walked away and asked his coach to challenge the play! If Tatum gets back into form this team could represent the East in the Finals!
