San Antonio Spurs

Brandon Lucero here, Journalist and Photographer dedicated to covering the San Antonio Spurs. I served onboard the USS San Antonio while in the United States Navy! I utilized my GI Bill and went to college where I received my Associates and Bachelors degrees in Journalism and Photography!

Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 111 to 103 to advance to the NBA Finals! In just his third year in the NBA, V. Wembanyama (22pts,7rebs,1blk) gets his team to the NBA championship defeating the defending champs in a classic seven game series! He showcased his unique skills and why he was considered an MVP candidate! Wemby had help as D. Fox (15pts,5ast,3stls) S. Castle (16pts,6rebs,6ast) and D. Harper (12pts,7rebs,3ast) attacked the Thunder guards all night! They brought the necessary energy and sustained it all 48 minutes! J. Champagnie (20pts,6rebs) D. Vassell (11pts,6rebs) and K. Johnson (11pts,3rebs) all hit timely shots while playing solid fundamental basketball! L. Kornet (2pts,1blk) only played 6 minutes, but his huge block in the fourth quarter helped swing momentum for the Spurs! San Antonio scored 19 points to the Thunders 9 off of turnovers. This was the only advantage as majority of stats were close and similar! Next up is the New York Knicks and a rematch of the 1999 NBA Finals! The Alien 👽 vs the Big Apple 🍎!

Thunder: SGA (35pts,4rebs,9ast) did everything he could to get the Thunder past the Spurs! He needed more help and with the Thunder down a few key guys, the MVP was going to have to score 50 to beat the Spurs! C. Holmgren (4pts,4rebs) was nonexistent for this game. After being put on Wemby’s poster he only took two shots and was benched the final minute of the game. C. Wallace (17pts) and J. Williams (11pts,10rebs) helped SGA make the game close, but they just didn’t have enough as a collective! The Thunder are deep, but when a guy or two goes down it becomes talent vs dept as San Antonio is the more talented team! J. McCain (12pts) and A. Caruso (12pts) were kept under 30 points combined, as the Thunder needed more from these two! They will be back next year so the OKC vs San Antonio rivalry will continue!
