San Antonio Spurs

Brandon Lucero here, Journalist and Photographer dedicated to covering the San Antonio Spurs. I served onboard the USS San Antonio while in the United States Navy! I utilized my GI Bill and went to college where I received my Associates and Bachelors degrees in Journalism and Photography!

Spurs: The San Antonio Spurs lost game 2 to the New York Knicks 105 to 104 as V. Wembanyama (29pts,9rebs,4blks) made a critical mistake down the stretch and missed the go ahead jumper to win the game! Wemby seemed exhausted at times and unsure of himself in the first half. He finally got going in the second half, but it was not enough as his jumper just barley missed to end regulation, giving the Knicks a stranglehold on the series! Wemby was visibly frustrated with himself, but he has the right approach in that he needs to look past what he cannot control and look forward to what he can! Game 3 will show if he has what is needed to be a champion! In order for the Spurs to get back in this series he has to do the impossible! D. Fox (20pts,5ast) was a lot better this game and controlled the tempo and pace when the Spurs needed him. S. Castle (14pts,4rebs,4ast) was in attack mode, but his turnovers down the stretch hurt the Spurs comeback. D. Harper (15pts) was the only offense off the bench for the Spurs once again. He was critical in getting the Spurs back into the game. Coach Johnson finally let him close the game, but his decision to not call timeout could have changed the entire outcome of the game. D. Vassell (14pts,9rebs) showed fight, but it took most of the game to get to his spots. It also took most of the game to get the Spurs going, as most of the Spurs were playing through the motions. This team has fight and can come back and tie this series, but it will take a full team effort! Clean up mistakes, keep calm and don’t panic, just play the game they know how to, and take it one possession at a time!

Knicks: The Knicks now have the young Spurs where they want them. This team has played with each other for a long time. M. Bridges (20pts,6rebs,6ast) and J. Brunson (20pts,5rebs,6ast) were a thorn in the side of the Spurs all night. OG. Anunoby (17pts) and KAT (21pts,13rebs) played big in the post and pushed Wemby around. Having only played in 18 games means the Knicks have been rested and are using the rest and physical play to thier advantage.
