Game Flow: The San Antonio Spurs held on to beat the Nets in a exciting home opener. As always we start with WeMV-P who had 31 points and 14 rebounds to pace the Spurs. He was joined by the #2 pick D. Harper who had 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Harper was instrumental in bringing the Spurs back after the Nets took the lead, and seemed as if they could not miss from deep in the second half. S. Castle also contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds. The second unit was also important in bringing energy and hustle with the likes of K. Johnson adding 19 points and 6 rebounds. The Spurs also added another banner to the rafters by paying homage to former Coach G. Popovich with having his win totals hanging in the rafters. 1390 total wins is the most in NBA history! Well done El Jefe!!!
Nets: The Nets fought hard all night even after going down by as many as 26. C. Thomas was amazing with 40 points and kept his squad within reach in the second half even taking the lead late. MPJ was also a menace by scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds. The Nets had a legitimate shot at winning the game but D. Harper on the Spurs removed any hope with his play down the stretch!
